Xiaomi's new wireless charging is the most powerful: 80 W!

Although the technology for charging electricity by contact is not very new, the massive introduction in high-end mobiles is. In Spain it is still not very common to be able to enjoy compatible chargers in bars, restaurants or public transport stations, but even so, manufacturers continue to innovate in this regard.

The last to present its news has been Xiaomi, which had already announced a new milestone in wireless charging speed and that today it has shown it on video.

The manufacturer has shown in a video a mobile prototype (based on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro) supported by an experimental charging base in which it is charged using one of its latest chargers, a 120 W similar to the one presented by Vivo el last year and that Xiaomi uses in the Mi 10 Ultra.

The speed reached in the fast wireless charging is no less than 80 W. This represents a 33% loss of efficiency, although it is not very different from what happens with the more traditional wireless charging.

This assumes that you can charge a mobile with a full 4000 mAh battery in less than 20 minutes. Specifically, it takes 19. Half only takes 8 minutes.


These numbers are striking even when it comes to wired charges, but wirelessly it’s staggering. Of course, although it is likely that we will end up seeing it in terminals that we can buy, it may still take us a few months, if not a few years, to do so.
