Xiaomi continues to expand the ecosystem of products it offers around its mobiles in Spain. A few weeks ago it presented its new smart speaker, the Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker. It is the first that integrates the Google assistant and that we can buy in our country.
The approach was very simple: it is cheap and offers great sound quality. That is, it will fight with the Nest Audio and it costs half, 49.90 euros.

Small and compact
Xiaomi has chosen to offer a design in its speaker something different from what we see in brands such as Google or Apple. Here is a distinction between the bottom and top, in white, and the sound grille, in metal instead of plastic and gray.
At the bottom we have four rubber bumpers that allow the speaker to be supported without fear of slipping. In the upper one there are four canisters, all haptic, to control volume, playback and mute the microphone.
It is strange to see a mute button that is not physical, but we have tested it and the truth is that it works perfectly.
Great sound
The speaker of this device has a 2.5-inch driver and a maximum output power of 12 W. The reality is that we have not set the volume to maximum except to check what it was like and the room has rumbled, without causing distortion music.
The audio processor is a TAS5805M Hi-Fi Audio from Texas Instruments and we can say, clearly, that it is the speaker at this price that is best heard from all of those we have analyzed.
In addition, even with the volume at maximum it has been able to capture a voice command to control playback, something that in other models is more complicated. This shows that including two microphones instead of one works.
The only downside that we can put is the lack of an audio input to connect other devices. But being realistic, at this price that is not something we should demand.
With the Google assistant
Although this is a speaker designed for listening to music (always within a tight budget), its versatility is noticeable thanks to the integration of the Google assistant.

We can make any of the queries we make with other devices and respond with the same speed.
In fact, to configure it we need to have a Google account as normal, and through the Google Home app integrate it into our profile. We can connect it by Wifi both in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Another difference with respect to cheaper models.
Finally, as we can always do with these speakers, we can use them as a bluetooth audio device thanks to the implementation of bluetooth 4.2.
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker is good, nice and cheap
Xiaomi has in this Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker a perfect example of what you do as a company. A product of good design and construction, with the necessary functions for most users and that although it does not stand out at all, it offers such a good value for money that it is impossible not to recommend it.
