WhatsApp already lets you silence the videos before sharing them

One of the options that I use the most in Instagram stories before sharing a video is usually to mute the audio. This allows me to put a song in the background or simply eliminate the ambient conversation in restaurants and other public places.

In WhatsApp this was not possible until now but a new function that has arrived with the beta version 2.21.3.13 makes it viable.

How to mute WhatsApp videos before sharing

In order to remove the sound from the videos, we simply have to press a new button that appears on the screen when we select the video that we want to send.

At the top, just to the left of the option that allows us to choose whether we want to send the file as a video or as a GIF, a new icon, shaped like a speaker.

If we don’t touch it, the video will play the audio, if we click on it it will mute it, and a line will appear above the icon, a classic symbol of the Mute option or Mute in any software. Once we press it, we can send the video without the sound it has integrated.

It is appreciated that WhatsApp has finally given this option. Further, it is possible to use it also in the States, which makes it easier to send videos that don’t have good sound as we can remove it.

Finally, it must be said that this will lower the size of the videos, as they contain less information. It won’t be much, between 5 and 10%, but if the sound is not relevant, we can always leave this option activated.

The WhatsApp entry now lets you silence the videos before sharing them, it appears first in The Free Android.
