As we said, our phone can become a great ally when we do any sports activity. We can listen to music, put on audiobooks and know the progress of our workouts. In the latter case we can use the application that we have mentioned above. MapMyRun offers us a follow-up of our favorite physical activities thanks to its simple handling. Next we are going to explain what this application can do for you.

MapMyRun is a fitness tracking app. Be part of Under Armor, a famous American sports clothing and accessories brand. Through it we can track all our sports activities thanks to its GPS system, taking advantage of the location of our device. With it we can record the most relevant details and data of our training such as duration, distance or calories burned.

The main objective of the app is to become an essential tool for everyone who wants to change or improve their lifestyle for a healthier one. It does not matter if you are a beginner runner or passionate about this world, since it is aimed at all types of athletes. In fact, it is not only used for running, since we can use it for cycling, for the gym or for mountain sports, all with a design and interface that is very easy and comfortable to use.

How to set up your workouts

The first thing it will ask us to do is register. To do this, we can do it through Facebook or creating an account from scratch by entering all our data. When we have completed it, it will ask us for permission to access the location thanks to its high precision GPS system. Within the app, the first thing we will see is the map and our position on it, and from the first moment we will be able to start using it.

In the upper left part of the screen, we will see three horizontal stripes. Here we will access all the options offered by the app. The first one that we see is Follow training, and basically it will track the physical activity that we are going to do. To do this, we just have to click on the green button that will appear at the bottom of the screen, with the name of Start training. Here it will show us the distance, time or average pace, among other values ​​to record all the information of our session.

As we progress, it will show us other data such as calories burned.At any time we can press the button Pause training. Here we can decide if we want resume if we have made a stop to rest, or if we have made a mistake, or end up to end the session. If we choose this last option, it will take us to a screen where we will measure time, distance and calories throughout the entire race. We can also add Photographs Y share it with our friends to to post our training, all in a very simple way.

On the other hand, when we go out to train, we may leave our mobile at home or forget to configure the route. In this case, the app offers us another option called Record training. Here we can add the date, the type of activity or the route, among other more parameters. You may be thinking that without the application, you will hardly know this data. For this you can use an accessory to measure sports performance and then transfer the data to MapMyRun and always have it at hand. Then you can review them in the tab See workouts from the main menu.

On the other hand, we find the Activity dashboard. This is where we can share all your content, that of your friends and that of the rest of the community. This section is very useful, since here we can know how we have evolved in the last training sessions and if we have improved or we do not see any progress. If you do not see that you have progressed, you can go to Challenges, where you can create them to meet your goals. You can choose between My challenges, which are those that you are currently completing, or New challenges, for which you can configure and set new goals. To create one, you just have to click the “+” button that appears in the upper right corner.

In the Control Panel you can make a weekly progress of all your workouts. Of course, to access all its features, it will ask you to subscribeas it is more limited. Similarly, if you you subscribe you can also access the training plans custom and use the Live tracking to share your route in real time. You can also control your heart rate to adapt your intensity to your goals. Finally, in the Settings of the app, you can customize the panel to your liking to make your workouts in a simpler and more bearable way, such as the settings of voice, watch markers or configure the notifications. Transfer your data to MapMyRun from other applications

MapMyRun offers us the possibility of synchronizing data from other sports tracking applications in order to know our records. Apps like Endomondo (the data of this app was deleted in March 2021), Runtastic or Runkeeper They are some of the most helpful, but doing it one by one can become a very cumbersome task. Also, you must do it from the computer to do it in a simpler and safer way. So that this process is not so long, all we have to do is the following:

  • Open the application you want to export the data to.
  • Then access the Settings or Setting of the app
  • Here you should find an option with the name of To export, or something similar.
  • You can usually set a date range and the activity from which you want to export the data.
  • Click on the button Download. The files will be downloaded in format GPX Y TCX.
  • Now, head over to MapMyRun.
  • In the Menu, go to Settings.
  • In the upper left, click Import file from. Here you can directly connect other apps such as Fitbit, Suunto or Samsung Health.
  • Select the file in GPX or TCX format.
  • Tap on to import and ready.
