At the presentation of the new Galaxy S21 the Korean company showed what it was technically capable of. But it also gave us a glimpse of the future of the company in ecological terms, at least according to them.
New mobiles without charger or headphones
When Apple confirmed that the new iPhone would be sold without a charger in the box, many saw the wolf’s ears and began to fear that the main manufacturers of Android phones would follow the same path.
This was confirmed when Xiaomi presented the Xiaomi Mi 11 in China, a market in which it would not include a charger as standard, although it would give one free to the buyer who wanted it.
Now it has been Samsung that has not only announced that it will stop including the charger in the S21, but that it will do the same with the headphones. will affect the next company launches. The reason given is as follows:
“We have realized that more and more Galaxy mobile users are reusing accessories they already have and making sustainable decisions in their daily lives to promote better recycling habits. To support our Galaxy community on this journey, we are transitioning in which we will remove the plug from the charger and headphones on our latest line of Galaxy smartphones.
We believe that phasing out the charger and headphone plugs from our device box can help address sustainable consumption issues and remove any pressure consumers may feel to continually receive unnecessary accessories like a new charger with new phones.
We’ve also implemented standardized USB-C Type-C charging ports since 2017, so older chargers can still be compatible with our newer Galaxy models.
The problem with this decision is that not all manufacturers use the exact same charging protocols.
Is removing the charger from the mobile really ecological? Apple opens the melon with its iPhone 12Apple has decided to remove the charger and headphones from the iPhone 12, bragging about environmentalism for it. Are they right or is it a trick to sell more?
We ourselves have seen how a Samsung Galaxy A42 5G complained that we had not connected an original charger indicating that the cable may be loose, when it was not.
If finally all manufacturers use the same protocols and we can use the maximum loading speeds, better for everyone, but this requires a commitment from many brands, something that seems far from happening.
