The augmented reality of Google Maps adds functions in Madrid and Barcelona

Google Maps has become one of those essential applications that any user wants to have on their mobile. In Spain, it is becoming very important not only as a navigation application, but also for the discovery of places and venues.

But its main function is still to guide us from one point to another. For this, the service launched a new function with which we could follow instructions in augmented reality, something that we already tested.

Now the company has announced that it improves these functions with the inclusion of new elements, such as posters, better signs of places, etc.

Google Maps augmented reality includes better landmarks

These places will be better signposted to make it easier for us to get to them. In addition, if we are near a building or important point, it will appear outlined, even if we are not going to it, to serve as a reference.

Another novelty is the possibility of activating this navigation mode when we have a walking itinerary within one that includes other means of transport. Thus, if we follow a route that includes a metro and we leave the station on foot, we can activate this view to orient ourselves.

Similarly, we can navigate to the position shared by a friend with whom we have arranged. And doing it in augmented reality will be much more convenient, of course.

Finally, the Google Maps engineers have improved the topography within augmented reality so that the location of markers is much more precise and does not lead to misunderstandings, as we can see in the following image.
