OPPO is becoming well known in Spain for its mobiles. The penetration of the firm in operators and conventional distribution channels is helping it a lot. Their update policy seems to go in the same direction.
However, it has also started to sell accessories in Spain, such as headphones, and now comes its smart watch, the OPPO Watch.

This design reminds us, a lot, of something
There are few who have said that this watch is very similar to the Apple Watch. It really is so, it seems, although there are different elements.
On the one hand, the screen is curved on the vertical sides, making interaction gestures with the system more comfortable. On the other, we have two buttons on the right side, the first to launch applications and the second to turn the clock on or off, but also to open an app or task quickly.
On the other side we have the loudspeaker, which allows us to use the mobile to talk on the phone. Of course, we expected better audio quality.
On the back we see the heart rate measurement sensor, as well as four pins that serve to charge the watch on its magnetic base.
The slits that we have to press to change the strap are also appreciated.
Day to day with OPPO Watch
This watch is what I usually call a complete smart watch, one that allows you to install applications independently of the mobile. This may seem obvious but few allow it.
For this it has Wear OS as an operating system, although we will talk about the software later.
The link to the phone is done through the app of the same name, which surrealistically does not allow us to change the mobile phone to which the watch is linked, having to format each time we want to change mobile.
Yes, it is something weird, but many brands already allow it and we know that this is not the fault of OPPO, but of Google.
Hardware
Regarding the hardware specifications we have no complaints. The 1 GB RAM, 8 GB storage, the processor… everything is chosen so that the fluidity of the clock is adequate.
It has not given us the feeling that we have in some other devices, which seem to need more power.
The presence of a programmable lower button allows us to launch the app that suits us best, although the upper button will always have the same function.
The only downside to it is the speed at which it connects to a GPS satellite since it seemed somewhat slow to us.
The software
Obviously, we cannot ignore in this analysis the fact that this mobile uses Wear OS. My experience with the Google operating system is bittersweet.
On the one hand, I see that it is a coherent system in terms of design and functions, with integration of many of the applications that I use in my day to day, such as Telegram, although not all. The lack of WhatsApp is ridiculous, but we already know how this company works when it comes to interconnected devices.
We can read notifications, view images, or reply via text or emojis, but we cannot listen to audio messages.
Call management also works very well, which we can answer from the same clock. This is especially relevant given that the model we have analyzed, the 46 mm with eSIM, allows them without depending on the phone.
Personalization is also a success. Not only does it have many faces, but we can download applications for it from the Play Store, which is built into the watch.
The only part negative in this section is the voice assistant. What should be a sales pitch becomes a usable medium item. At most.
On the one hand, we can make inquiries and the response speed is correct. On the other hand, we do not have the possibility of integrating the routines, which means that, for example, I cannot turn off the television from my watch.
Also, I have not been able to make voice dictation work for WhatsApp or Telegram. I don’t know if it’s a problem with this model or one of the many parameters that Google restricts, but it’s frustrating.
Good autonomy, but it is still a complete smartwatch
This watch boasts being able to give us several weeks of autonomy, but that is in watch mode, not smartwatch. Exceptions aside, the autonomy is expected from such a device. We have plenty of it at the end of the day, and sometimes we can do two days without load.
During the time that we have used the mobile, we have found that it is best to charge it at night, but it would be possible, in a positive scenario, such as being at home, to charge it one night, yes and no.
This distances it a lot from proposals such as those of Amazfit or Huawei, but we always say that these types of watches are more like smart bracelets in that we cannot install applications or respond from the watch.
Of course, given the fast charge, if we are one of those who are reading for a while in bed before going to sleep, or watching a series, it is very possible that we can put the watch to charge at that time, and put it on before going to sleep.
OPPO Watch: conclusion
Let’s start from the basis that the buyer of this watch will not be the one who looks favorably on proposals from Xiaomi or Huawei, they are looking for something else. There are many phones with Wear OS, but this is undoubtedly one of the most elegant, one of the most fluid and possibly one of the best autonomy.
For this reason alone, it is already worth buying, although from my point of view the price is somewhat high, at least in the 46mm version.
Of course, the 41 mm has a more attractive price, as long as that size is not too small for you.
