For months Huawei has made it clear that, although they want to continue working with Google in Spain and the rest of the European markets, it is not going to put aside the development of its own operating system, Harmony OS.
This new platform has been designed not only for smartphones, but also for the Internet of Things. In fact, there are already products like televisions that use it.
But the important leap will be when Huawei mobiles can start to use it, and there is already a date.
When does Huawei’s new operating system arrive?
Mai Yumin, the vice president of Huawei’s software department in China, has confirmed that the beta of the new operating system is coming down. In fact, he has given a date: December 16.
That will be the day that users will be able to download the trial version of Harmony OS in China, where it is known as HongMeng OS.
Which mobiles will be updated
The company has announced that the test version for the Huawei Mate 40, the latest flagship of the company, will be launched on that day.
But that does not mean that there are no more compatible mobiles. In fact, we already have a first list of models that can be updated in a few months. Almost all the mobiles that are currently sold will be able to update to the new system, if the user wants, of course.
Now it remains to be seen if this operating system arrives in Europe soon or we will have to wait a long time. It will also be necessary to check the advantages it brings over Android and the compatibility of Harmony OS with Google system apps, something key to its success.
The entry Huawei’s new mobile operating system will arrive in December appears first in The Free Android.
