Huawei has unveiled its new version of folding mobile, the third in its catalog after the first Huawei Mate X and the second Huawei Mate XS. The new model, called as Huawei Mate X2, strengthens the position of the brand on folding models while changing the direction of the folding to resemble the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Not that Huawei is in a very good position due to United States trade sticks, but this has not been an excuse for the brand to stop innovating in the field of smartphones. Apart from preparing the Huawei P50, and after having commercialized the Huawei Mate 40, the manufacturer marks the start of 2021 in terms of new smartphones with the Huawei Mate X2, a folding that points ways. Powerful, attractive and with high performance, this is how we could define the new smartphone.

The Huawei Mate X2 is a ‘premium’ range mobile with all the laws. For the interior the brand has chosen its Huawei Kirin 9000, an SoC that provides great power, both in software processing and graphics. Compatibility with 5G networks is also taken advantage of; including 8 GB of RAM and two storage versions: 256 and 512 GB. Huawei continues to rely on its own SD cards to expand the space.
The screen folding changes orientation on the Huawei Mate X2: from folding to be on the outside to doing it in the opposite direction, inwards (similar to how Samsung does with the Folds). In addition, Huawei includes a second external screen that has dimensions similar to those of a ‘common’ smartphone: 6.45 inches (the internal one is 8 inches when deployed). Both panels are flexible OLEDs and offer 90 Hz refresh rate.

The design of the Huawei Mate X2 is elegant, it has an aluminum body, the back face is made of glass, it is available in pastel colors (blue, pink, white and gray), the mobile lacks a headphone port, it includes dual SIM (only the primary SIM has 5G), it has a USB C 3.1 port and does not do without NFC.
The Huawei Mate X2 offers a quadruple rear camera and does not dispense with the front: the mobile allows selfies without displaying the internal screen (previous models did not need a front camera). In terms of performance, the main rear sensor is a 50 megapixel one with mechanical stabilization; to which are added a 16 megapixel ultra wide angle and two telephoto lenses: one with a 12 megapixel sensor and the other with an 8 megapixel sensor. Ahead, the Huawei Mate X2 maintains a 16-megapixel front camera. Photography receives Leica certification.
The battery chosen for the phone has a 4,500 mAh capacity. It offers 55 W wired charging and does not have wireless charging. For its part, the included software is EMUI 11 based on Android 10.
The phone will go on sale in China on March 25. Its price in that country is as follows:
