The Huawei Mate X2 is Huawei’s new foldable smartphone, which we hope to be able to buy this year in Spain. A couple of weeks ago it was confirmed that it was today when this new smartphone was officially presented. The wait has been worth it, because the manufacturer leaves us with its best folding so far.

This Huawei Mate X2 is a folding that follows the Chinese brand’s commitment to this segment. A model that arrives with a design similar to that of other folding like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5G, launched last year in Spain, and which has everything to please consumers in the market.

OLED panels and new hinge system

The Huawei Mate X2 is a foldable that is reminiscent of models like the Galaxy Z Fold 5G. This device folds in half and features a 8 inch size main panel when fully open. A panel of a size similar to a tablet, which will allow you to work comfortably, having several applications open at the same time, since the screen can be divided into four at the same time. It has opted for an OLED panel with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, ideal for consuming multimedia content and being able to play as well.

The outer screen of the phone is a 6.45 inch size OLED panel, a size similar to other phones on the market. In this outer panel we also find the front camera of the device, 16 Mpx, which is a wide-angle sensor according to the brand. On this screen we can answer calls, send messages or use the camera without having to open the phone.

The brand employs a new hinge system in this Huawei Mate X2, which will allow you to open and close it without any problem. When open, it remains firm and stable, so that we can use the main panel normally and comfortably. When closing or folding it, the hinge system fits perfectly. Also, the hinge is not exposed and the device can be enjoyed from all angles.

The brand has used innovative materials, but light, so that this phone is weather resistant, that is, that we can fold and unfold it thousands of times, but without making it heavy or thicker. The thickness of the device is just 8.2 mm open and slightly more than 16 mm folded, so it has been known to maintain a comfortable format. Its weight of 295 grams is higher than a normal mobile, but it is not excessive.

Powerful and with four rear cameras

As has been rumored for weeks, Kirin 9000 is the chosen processor for this new Huawei Mate X2. The most powerful processor of the brand so far, which gives it great performance and makes it a perfect phone for multitasking, one of its main purposes. In addition, it also gives this foldable the standard 5G connectivity brand.

Together with this chip they leave us with two combinations of RAM and storage (8/256 GB and 8/512 GB). The device’s battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh, which we hope will give a good autonomy. It also comes with support for 55W fast charging, one of its highlights too.

As for cameras, we have already mentioned a 16 Mpx front sensor on the outer panel. In addition to said sensor, the Huawei Mate X2 arrives with four rear cameras, located on the outer panel. These are the sensors that this foldable from the Chinese manufacturer has:

Price and availability

This new Huawei Mate X2 has already been made official in China, where you can make an official reservation at Vmall, the Huawei store. This device is officially launched in white, blue, black and pink. At the moment the brand has not said anything about its launch in Spain, waiting for an announcement on its part.

There are two versions depending on the internal memory. The 256GB variant costs 17,999 yuan, about 2300 euros to change. The 512 GB version raises the price to 18,999 yuan, just over 2,400 euros at the change. We do not know at the moment how much this device will cost when it is launched in Spain.
