How to create a shortcut to a contact on Android

We all have some contacts that we call more frequently from our Android mobile, such as our parents or our partner. When it comes to having to contact them, it is common to have to open the contacts app and search for them in it. But on Android we have the possibility to create shortcuts too, an option that many users in Spain do not always take advantage of.

This is something that we have also seen with contacts on WhatsApp, for example, but what can we do with phone numbers. Thus, you can create a folder on the Android home screen with those contacts you want to call most frequently, or do it with just one.

Create shortcuts to your contacts on Android

This is something you can do if you have the Google Contacts application installed on your Android phone. The application gives users the ability to create a shortcut to their contacts, so that the shortcut can be placed on the home screen on the phone. The steps you have to follow to do this are:

  1. Open the Contacts app on the phone.
  2. Search for the desired contact.
  3. Enter it.
  4. Click on the icon with the three vertical dots at the top right,
  5. Select the Add to Start option.
  6. Click on the Add button.
  7. Choose where you want to put that shortcut to the contact.

If you want to do this with more contacts Within the application, the steps you have to carry out are the same at all times. In the event that you do this with more contacts, which will then be placed on the Android home screen, you can create a folder where they will all be grouped, so that they are organized more comfortably. Although this is something that everyone can choose.

By having such a shortcut to a contact on the home screen on Android, by clicking on its icon you will have access to it, where you can choose between calling him or sending him a message, for example. If it is a contact with whom you usually talk a lot, it can be a comfortable option. Also for people who find it difficult to navigate in apps, having access directly on the screen makes it easier for them to be in contact with someone.
