YouTube for Android TV

YouTube is one of the most popular applications among Android users in Spain. It is an application whose design changes little, although we are currently working on a design change in the Android application. The Android TV version of the popular video application is also going to get a design change.

In this case, it will not be a design change on the application’s home screen. It will be on the video playback screen where YouTube for Android TV is going to introduce a design change. Thanks to it, you will have faster access to functions on that screen.

YouTube will change the video playback window, thus introducing a series of icons that will give us access to common functions in the application, such as liking said video. The information about the video that we are playing (title, name of the channel and number of reproductions) go to the upper left part of the screen.

Now, we can see a series of icons just above the play bar, which shows the progress in playing the video. We will have the possibility to like or dislike said video, comment, report … The strangest thing is that the pause and play buttons have been removed in this new application interface.

Google is currently testing with this new design, which has already been shown to some users. As is usual in this type of Google tests, it is not yet known whether or not it will reach YouTube for Android TV in a definitive way. Since the company could still introduce a series of changes to it, before deciding on a final design for this playback window in the app.

A renewal that adds to a series of novelties that have reached Android TV these weeks. Google Duo is already supported, allowing you to make calls or video calls from a television. In addition, a couple of weeks ago the YouTube Music application for televisions was launched.

The entry Google tests a new interface on YouTube for Android TV appears first in The Free Android.
