Android Auto is one of the best options in Spain to have a connected car with applications. Since its launch, Google has been improving the platform progressively, and although it seems that its great efforts are now in Android Automotive, it seems that the current platform continues to receive improvements of great importance.
Already last August we learned about the news that was about to come to Android Auto, and it seems that one of the most important is already publicly available for developers, which is an indication of an upcoming deployment. His name isApp Library (application library) and we explain what it is for.
Application library, the new feature of Android Auto
The app library goes from being a promise to open beta for developers. This does not affect us directly at first, since they are tools for application developers. However, and as always, any improvement that helps developers to create applications finally ends up being better applications for users, so knowing these tools will allow us to know what improvements we can have in our car.
In the case of the application library, its main purpose is to give the possibility of creating navigation applications for the car in a simple way. This opens up the opportunity for applications that are an alternative to Google Maps, but also for more specialized map applications in a specific area, such as the search for refueling stations for electric cars.
The applications that have previously had access to these tools have been the Sygic maps application, SpotHero for finding parking lots and ChargePoint, an application for finding electric vehicle chargers.
