Android and iOS have managed to become the two leading mobile platforms on the market. While in Android the ecosystem is open and moving from one brand to another is an easy task, iOS is more closed to Apple products and services.
Although going from one ecosystem to another is not excessively complicated, sometimes it is small details that prevent us from opting for the iPhone or leaving the iPhone to go to any of the Android brands. WhatsApp is usually one of the biggest impediments when it comes to making the transition, but it seems that the application is going to put an end to this.
WhatsApp will make it easier to go from Android to iOS and vice versa
Backups of WhatsApp conversations are not exactly new and they have been available to everyone for years. However, they pose a small drawback, and that is that they are limited to working with a single operating system.
This means that if you use WhatsApp on an Android and make the backup of your chats the moment you switch to another Android mobile you can restore it, but if for any reason you decide to switch to iPhone you will have to start from scratch and lose your conversations.
It is an inconvenience that, in the case of wanting to hold your conversations, limits your choice. It seems that WhatsApp would finally be aware of it and would be working on an official tool to migrate your data between any of the two major operating systems.
This was revealed by WABetaInfo with the following screenshot, indicating that WhatsApp is already working on this feature. The capture would be from the iOS application to migrate your chats to Android, but in Android we would also have an option to migrate the chats to Android.
It is currently a feature in development and it is not possible to activate it, so it is still not available at this time. As the months progress it should appear in the beta versions and later in the stable one, so we will remain vigilant.
The entry WhatsApp prepares a tool to migrate your chats between Android and iOS appears first in The Free Android.
