Xiaomi continues to extend the models of its Redmi 9 line and in this case it presents a phone where Redmi first set foot as an independent brand: in India. In the country of the Ganges, the Chinese firm has presented the new Redmi 9i and it places it in the first rungs of the mid-range, closer to economic mobiles than to the most powerful.
In fact, this Redmi 9i powerfully reminds us of other models of its own family becoming, therefore, more in a local variant for the country than in a completely new model in its own right. We are for all intents and purposes a Redmi 9A with more internal memory and some limitation in terms of connectivity. Let’s see.

Xiaomi tends to blur the line that separates mid-range phones from low-end phones due to its aggressive prices, and the case of the new Redmi 9i follows the same path as previous models. We have in hand a device with the Helio G25 in command and with two storage options for one RAM: 4GB / 64GB and 4GB / 128GB, both with microSD.
On the screen we find a 6.53-inch LCD panel with a 20: 9 ratio and HD + resolution, which leaves us 1,600 x 720 pixels. The panel is cut at the top with a notch in the form of a drop of water and hides behind it a battery of 5,000 mAh with 10W load. In connectivity: dual 4G, WiFi 4, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, headphone jack and microUSB port.
We do not have a fingerprint reader in this Xiaomi Redmi 9i but we do have facial recognition embedded in its front camera, 5 megapixels. On the back, a single 13 megapixel sensor to complete the photographic equipment. The model lands with splash guard and moved by Android 10 under MIUI 12.
The new phone comes in two storage versions and therefore in two prices. We have 8,299 rupees (95 euros to change) for the 4GB / 64GB and 9,299 rupees (106 euros to change) for the model with 4GB / 128GB. The phone goes on sale in India on September 18.
