We have to go back to nothing more and nothing less than January 2018 to remember the launch of the Mi Box 4 and 4C, two set top boxes that landed in China with more measured performance and price than the My Box TV of the international market. Both, yes, played content in 4K and they had WiFi n 2.4 GHz.
Now Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of the new Mi Box 4S, which incorporates slight improvements compared to previous models. It will go on sale tomorrow in China, but the company has already revealed its design and all its specifications through a post on the Weibo social network.
The main novelty that the Xiaomi Mi Box 4S incorporates, as we said, we find it in its connectivity. Unlike the 4 and 4C models, which only had 2.4 GHz WiFi, this new equipment includes Dual band WiFi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for faster transmission and more stable signal.
In addition, Xiaomi boasts an intuitive voice control so that the elderly and children can use it with ease. The rest of the features are those that we already saw in its brothers: 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory and an HDMI 2.0 port for play content in 4K at 60 fps and HDR. Of the processor there are no details, but it is expected to be the same (Amlogic S905L).
The new Xiaomi device will begin to be sold on November 1, but it will go out in pre-sale tomorrow, October 21, at a price of 289 yuan, which is equivalent to about 37 euros at the current exchange rate. As we can see, it is an intermediate figure between the 249 and 349 yuan that the Mi Box 4 and 4C cost, respectively, at the time of its launch.
