Xiaomi takes a long time already preparing the next step on the ladder of the evolution of the layer owner, the MIUI which runs on top of Android in their products. MIUI 12 it has already leaked timidly on occasion and it seems that the development is quite advanced, however there is still several discussions of software on the table and one of them may have surfaced via Weibo, the social network prevailing in China.
Through it we have known a publication in charge of the product manager of Xiaomi Camera, which in turn has been shared by the own Lei Jun, CEO of the company. In this publication, the director suggests that they try to choose between two interfaces for the future remodelling of the camera of their mobile phones. Two interfaces that can be seen in both animations. Lei Jun, by the way, seems to opt for the second option, option B.
Thanks to this publication we know, or think we know, that Xiaomi is preparing a redesign to its camera app. Specifically, you would now be working on how to make appear the additional options that usually hide in seconds menus of the interfaces. Menus tend to be more hidden in the account and not allow you to take advantage of the camera software properly, so that Xiaomi seems to want to facilitate the way that leads us to them.
To this, Xiaomi is in a moment of decision making between the version 1 and 2. The first consists of a menu sliding from the bottom up that functions in a manner similar to the drawer of Android apps, and also the MIUI since a couple of versions of their Launcher. By using a sliding gesture (or by pressing the More button), you would see additional options from the camera menu bottom (in vertical position) or right (in horizontal position).
Account director-this option allows you to display more panels of information into a single gesture, but in turn would be the most difficult to implement for the company, without more nuance than that to share. With this option, the options of the camera would be more accessible in case you are using the mobile with a single hand, to be at the bottom of the screen.
In option B, proposes the inclusion of a “More” button in the right part of the menu of the camera, always visible. Tapping it would appear a side menu from right to left with the additional options of the camera, and all those that Xiaomi decided to withdraw from the main window of the app to encourage the cleanliness of the interface. We assume that this same menu could be activated also with a sliding gesture, as in the case of option A.
So, Xiaomi raises two possible versions of your app of camera that would decide. A with a bottom menu and one with a side menu, each with their pros and cons. As we have said above, Lei Jun seems to opt for the menu Bthe side, in his account of Weibowe will see what it is that finally wins the battle and has just implemented, we believe, in MIUI 12.
