Xiaomi blocks Google services and applications in China 1

Xiaomi uses Google applications and services on the phones they launch in Spain. In those devices that the brand launches in its country of origin, only MIUI is used on the device, without the presence of Google services and applications. This is common in Chinese phone brands, which usually have two versions of their devices.

There are users who try install Google services and applications on your Xiaomi phone in China, but this is no longer possible. The update to MIUI 12.5 has been released for devices of the brand in China and these users see how they can no longer install GMS (Google mobile services) on their phones.

The company itself has reacted to complaints from users who have not been able to install Google services on their phones. They have said that those Xiaomi phones that do not come with the services and applications as standard they will not be able to install them later. This should not come as a surprise as the devices they launch in China do not have such support, because Google services are banned / blocked in the country by decision of their own government.

What is not known is whether this change in its policies it is something that affects all devices of the company. Users have reported that phones such as the Redmi K30 Ultra or the Redmi 10X 5G are among those phones that cannot install Google applications and services. Most likely there are more devices.

These restrictions are limited to China only, the country of origin of Xiaomi. In this country, Google services and applications are blocked, so the phones that are launched on the market do not have them. The brand now also blocks the possibility of proceeding with its subsequent manual installation.

It is important to note that in the rest of the markets, such as in Spanish, the company’s telephones continue to arrive with these services and applications as standard.
