A very careful design, from the case to the ergonomics

Our first impression of the Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch is extremely positive. This is due to the design of its case, which has a finishin vegan leather, very pleasant to the touch, with the Cambridge Audio logo embossed at the top.

Looking at the front, we see space for 5 LEDs that will light up when opening the case. These LEDs represent the percentage of battery left in the case, which is capable of extending the battery of the headphones up to 41 extra hours.

At the back we appreciate the USB C port that will serve to charge the case.

When we remove the lid and take the headphones, we are struck by the design of these. They have a design that at one point is strange to us, but whose sensation is passed when we take them to the ear, standing out for a very ergonomic design that according to Cambridge Audio is the result of an analysis of more than 3000 ears.

In the event that the design does not quite fit, we have several sizes of ear cushions, as well as several silicone hooks to improve support.

The touch panel is glossy plastic in color, and in my personal appreciation this is an area for improvement. It is the only visible part when we are wearing them and they could have been more elegant using a matte finish, but it is also true that it is more of a personal appreciation.

Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch as headphones

As headphones, the Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch are headphones that compete to be among the best in their category. They have an amplifier with Cambridge Audio’s own technology that offers great acoustic performance when listening to music.

Beyond listening to music, the latency of these headphones is low enough so that we can play video games without noticing a lag between the image we see on the screen and the sound we perceive.

By default we have a balanced audio, which we can customize depending on the type of music we are going to listen to. This is possible thanks to the applicationMelomania touch, available on Google Play for free.

The equalizer has presets for R&B, electronic music, Rock, a mode to accentuate the bass and one that enhances the voices, ideal for podcasts or for those series in which we want to pay more attention to the conversations. We also have three spaces to create custom equalizer settings.

Beyond the equalizer, the Melomania Touch application allows us to update the firmware of the headphones, calibrate the ambient sound mode for when we want to listen to our surroundings and access a mode calledFind my headphones. This mode will record the location of the last time we were connected to the headphones, as well as being able to choose the audio mode (low consumption or high performance) and choose which touch controls to have active.

Speaking of touch controls, the Melomanía Touch panels allow us to:

  • Play / pause.
  • Next and previous track.
  • Increase and decrease volume.
  • Accept, reject and hang up calls.
  • Voice assistant.
  • Transparency mode.

At the battery level, the Melomania Touch are among the best. Beyond the large battery they have, thanks to the use of graphene in their controller, the energy consumption of these headphones is lower than other models, which according to Cambridge Audio allows it to last up to 9 hours without going through the case. In my experience I have worked several full days in which they still had 20% battery left, which has left a good impression on us.

Great headphones for those who enjoy music at a price not suitable for all audiences

The Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch are headphonesthat we liked a lot. Although they do not have active sound cancellation, their isolation and support are good enough that we do not miss this function too much.

At the level of sound quality they are undoubtedly among the best models we have tested. We love that with one charge we can last a full working day, and the battery expandability of its case is among the best we have tested, being able to spend almost a full work week listening to music without having to go through the charging port .

At a price of 139 euros, we did expect some extra comforts beyond touch controls and their application. In this price range, that the wireless charging case

should be a must-have feature, and active noise cancellation would have been a huge plus too. They are small details, but they are headphones that move at a price where they are increasingly common features.

The Melomania Touch can be purchased this January, and if your maxim in TWS headphones is sound quality, comfort, customization through an equalizer and an exceptional battery, they are headphones that will meet all your demands.

The entry We tested the Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch: sound quality, extreme battery and comfort appears first in The Free Android.
