We already know that a very important part of expressing feelings or thoughts in the messaging tools we have are emojis. All applications dedicated to writing messages from one person to another incorporate them so that we can use them. Well then, Slack It will not be less, since it has a few that we can use at all times, but it also has a very interesting ability such as power add new ones to your list, something that we are going to tell you how to do next.

Slack is a channel-based messaging platform ideal for connecting people who work together, but remotely. That is, we are talking about a chat, more professional and for professionals, and as such, emojis are also part of the conversations that are had on a day-to-day basis.

Select emojis

Slack is a tool that is present for both computer and mobile devices. We can select the emojis that the application brings by default in the different types of support.

If we use a computer or an Android terminal:

• To open the emojis we must click on the icon with a smiley face that appears on the right side of the message field.
• Then a drop down and we choose the one that suits the best and the theme that we want.

In the case of having an iOS device:

• Press the message field to open the iOS keyboard.
• Then we open the button keyboard emojis or, in the case of having several keyboards, we will see that a globe.
• Then we can select the emoji we want to add to the message.

Aliases of an emoji

Something that can make life much easier when it comes to finding an emoji among so many that we have at our disposal is to be able to put an alias on it. To do this we must carry out a few simple steps:

• From the computer tool, we click on the work space in the upper left.
• Now we select Customize (workspace name) entering, if we are owners or administrators, Management to get to Personalize.
• We select Add aliases and then we click Choose emoji.
• Ajora, we choose the emoji and introduce an alias, indicating the code we want to use.
• Then we click on Keep and ready.

We can add a personalized emoji from our computer from an image in JPG, GIF or PNG format. We don’t have to worry about measurements, as Slack will adjust the size to make it look the best. We can do this if we are owners, administrators or if we are members with that conceived permission. The steps to follow are:

• Click on the smiley face in the Slack message field.
• Then we must click on Add emoji.

• Then we click on Upload image and select the file that we had prepared.
• Now where does it say Give it a name, we enter the name we want and then click on Keep.

Delete custom emojis

Both the owners, administrators or members of a workspace, as well as they can create them, will be able to delete custom emojis. For this we must do the following:

• From the computer application we click on the name of the workspace.
• If we are owners or administrators, we must click on Management to get to Personalize, to then enter the workspace.
• Now we must click on the tab Emoji that comes out in the upper right.
• We look for the emoji that we want to delete, select it and click on the Delete icon, which is a x inside a circle.
• Click on Remove emoji and thus it will be eliminated from the custom list.

Slack also allows us to add emoji packages that have already been created, so we don’t have to go one by one. Owners, administrators and members who have permission, can add an emoji package by following the steps that we are going to indicate:

• In the version of Slack for computer, we go and click on the icon with the smiley face which is on the right side of the message field.
• Then we click on Add emoji.
• Now we have to click on the tab Emoji Packs, which is located at the top of the page.

• It is time to select the emoji package that we had prepared to import into Slack.
• Once selected, you only have to click on Add package, so that it becomes effective in our Slack and we can use these new emojis in future conversations.

Remove emoji pack

Just as we have been able to add a pack of emojis, we can also delete them just in case we don’t want them to continue to appear on our list, for whatever reason. For this, the steps are just as simple as the ones we have been telling you so far:

• Go to Slack on your computer.
• Now we open the emoji menu, clicking on the emoji with smiley face which is in the message field. the same that we have used in the previous examples.
• At this moment we must click on Add Emoji, a button that is at the bottom of the window we are in.
• Now we must click on Emoji Packs, the tab that appears at the top of this screen.
• Then it is time to select the emoji package that we want to delete, since all the emojis that we have imported will come out at all times.
• Once this is done, all you have to do is click on Remove package, so that it is completely deleted from Slack, so we will not be able to use it again.

As you have seen in Slack we can use all kinds of emojis to express whatever we want and if at some point we do not have the right one, we can always import it so that it appears and thus be able to use it. That is, as we do in the messaging applications that we use every day, although in this case we are talking about a system for our work.
