It’s a great retro-style action platformer and a really impressive level of gameplay. The game is developed by Halfbrick Studios –the same of the famous Fruit Ninja- and has just received an update recently with new levels of play.
Sword of Sholan
The Pixel-Art is in his veins. A beautiful game with a great variety of enemies and very careful designs, final bosses and, in short, a combat platform created with great care. It has an arc of difficulty that increases appropriately through the 30 levels of the game. Free and compatible with gamepads.
Apple Knight – Platform Games
This is a game that was released in 2019, although I just discovered it recently and it seems to me a simply fabulous title. Here we find a “platforms and action” type proposal where we control a knight in a 2D side scrolling scenario with pixel art graphics.
Super mario run
The first and only Mario to date on Android that came loaded with controversy: the first 4 levels are free, having to pay 10.99 euros to unlock the rest of the game. It is a high price, which does not mean that it is a very fun game, with very good graphics, multiplayer mode and simple mechanics but with many nuances.
Rayman Adventures
Ubisoft’s mascot game is probably the best example of what Nintendo’s Mario Run could have been, and it wasn’t. As in the game of the plumber with a mustache, we are faced with a platform run and jump, but in this case free, and can even deactivate in-game purchases from the game settings.
OCO – A twist on the genre
OCO is a different platform game. It is operated with one hand in a circular environment that rotates continuously and our goal is to collect all the yellow dots that appear on the screen. It offers us a runner-type platform game with 40 levels and four final bosses. The game is already a classic on Android, released in 2014, it has been updated throughout this time to support new devices. Like a good speedrunner, the objective will be to avoid the obstacles without stopping running.
Downwell: jumps in 8 bits
We control a boy who falls into a well, and we must collect gems and try to get to the bottom alive, killing enemies with a reasonable variety of weapons. It is a quite addictive game in which the levels are generated randomly, which helps to improve the gameplay in a title, which, on the other hand, has a price of 3.09 euros.
Super Phantom Cat – Platform Games
A curious hybrid between new and retro. Although Super Phantom Cat shows that it is a game made today – I don’t know why, but it reminds us of the animations that appeared in Muchachada Nui – it has all those mechanics and essence of lifelong Android platform games , in addition to a totally 16-bit aesthetic.
