2020 will be a year remembered for many things, among which the warmongering of the US administration against everything that comes from China will stand out. We have seen how the veto of all Huawei’s technology has been maintained and in recent weeks we also saw how the social network Tik Tok was forced to sell at least part of the company to an American company.
The Asian firm had until September 15 to close an agreement and, although it seemed that there was an approach to Oracle, at no time was it made official. This has led the United States Government to announce that from September 20 all American companies will have to remove both that app and Wechat from their app stores.
No new download or updates for Wechat and Tik Tok
As both applications were removed from the most relevant stores in the world, the AppStore and the Google Play Store, US users They will not be able to install for the first time or update the applications that are already installed on mobile phones in that country.
This may be a boost for Reels, the Instagram feature designed to mimic Tik Tok.
At the moment this movement seems to be limited to downloads in the United States, but at this point we would not be surprised to find out that the US government is considering the veto of these applications internationally, in the same way that Huawei is not allowed to collaborate with Google nowhere in the world.
Byte Dance, the company that owns Tik Tok, is still in negotiations with American companies to sell the American subsidiary, but the recommendation algorithm would not be included, one of the reasons why the social network has grown so much in recent months.
