Three more years of Mi Band: Xiaomi and Huami extend their business agreement

The agreement between Huami and Xiaomi is one of the most fruitful in the technology industry: the success of the Xiaomi Mi Band it’s a good test. Therefore, both companies have decided extend their agreement and they will continue to collaborate for at least three more years, with the consequent products that have to arrive in the future.

Before Xiaomi arrived, the market for smart bracelets was in the hands of giants as Fitbit, one of the first companies to promote the commitment to activity bracelets. And the Xiaomi Mi Band arrived to disrupt everything, this saga of ‘wearable’ devices is unrivaled in sales. But, what company is behind said Mi Band or Xiaomi watches like the My Watch? Huami, the brand that also owns Amazfit watches. There is no doubt that the collaboration with Xiaomi has given it great benefits, hence it is not surprising that the agreement continues.

The agreement between both companies was signed today, October 21, as is reflected in the official statement published by Huami in their website. Thanks to the agreement Huami will continue to be the preferred manufacturer for Xiaomi in terms of ‘wearables’. That is, the brand will continue to develop and manufacture the successful Xiaomi Mi Band or Mi Watch watches, among other accessories compatible with the smartphone.

Apart from maintaining the status of ‘preferred partner’ for Xiaomi regarding the development of ‘wearables’, Huami and Xiaomi will form an alliance to promote innovation and development in processors focused on Artificial Intelligence. They will also investigate the improvement of algorithms for sports and health registration, a basic pillar of the native characteristics of an activity bracelet or smartwatch. It is not surprising since Huami has a huge experience with Amazfit: the brand of ‘wearables’ has managed to create not only a huge portfolio of devices, also software for these devices.

According to Huami’s data, the company distributed 42.3 million devices worldwide during 2019 alone. Of that amount, 26% were products developed and manufactured for Xiaomi.
