This is how Microsoft explains how with Windows 11 they have managed to make updates 40% lighter than with Windows 10

Windows 11, Microsoft’s new operating system is already among us. A revision that comes with aesthetic and operational changes. changes that even affect the updates that you will receive, in a process that it will be up to 40% lighter compared to what Windows 10 requires.

Microsoft has managed to optimize the update process in Windows 11 compared to what Windows 10 requires. As the company explains in its blog](), updates can be up to 40% lighter thus optimizing bandwidth and minimizing time spent.

Lighter and faster updates

The explanation comes in parallel with the improvements introduced by Microsoft in October Patch Tuesday. Microsoft has explained how have managed to reduce the size of updates up to 40% on Windows 11.

An improvement that it is because Windows 11 updates are modular. This means that the user will only have to download the most recent quality update, regardless of the version of Windows 11 that we have installed at that time.

To achieve this, it has adopted a system that has been called “generation of reverse update data”. This method allows the updated code to be distributed to the machine while maintaining a path back to its original state, which translates into less bandwidth consumed, lighter downloads, and savings in time during the installation process.

Remember that with Windows 11 we won’t see two big updates a year, but only one will arrive. Thus the spring and autumn updates that we know so far will give way to a single update at the end of the year.
