I have to admit that Windows 11, in general, I like a lot, but the taskbar is perhaps the aspect, of the ones I use on a daily basis, that I like the least. Apart from the normal beta failures, we found the inability to move, resize or drag icons to open applications they are to blame for the poor acceptance. It is at least what makes us think Dev Channel build 22458.
A Build launched last week in which Microsoft is hinting at the possibility of allowing users to drag and drop files or folders into an application like Registry Editor on the taskbar. In our testing, we were able to drag and drop a folder onto the taskbar and pin it to the File Explorer jump list, as shown in the following screenshot.

User complaints focus on the performance lost by the “Taskbar” And if before it was enough to drag a file to the bar to be able to dock or open it, this changed with Windows 11. In fact, it is something that will almost certainly remain the same when Windows 11 is released.

In build 22458, Microsoft re-enables drag-and-drop files in an application such as the registry editor on the taskbar. In Windows Latest have managed to drag and drop a folder in the “Taskbar” and add it to the “File Explorer” but yes, after making changes in the “Regiestro Editor”.
For now it’s just a wink perhaps based on user commentsBut it bodes well that the drag-and-drop ability of the taskbar in Windows 11 may return in the future.
What’s more, It is not the only function that they have seen disappear with the jump from Windows 10 to Windows 11. There are several functions that have disappeared with the change of operating system that users are already missing:
- Drag and drop has been lost.
- The taskbar is locked at the bottom and cannot be moved or resized.
- The seconds of the clock in the taskbar no longer appear
- The context menu no longer allows you to access options like Task Manager.
- Windows 11 disables the integration of events in the calendar drop-down menu.
- The taskbar does not allow you to ungroup items.
