There are more mobiles with Android 8.0 Oreo than with Android 11 in Spain, according to Statcounter

Although the distribution of versions can no longer be easily accessed on Android, the consulting firm Statcounter has compiled the data pertaining to the period from February 2020 to February 2021. In this data slow adoption of Android 11 reflected, which is not even present in 5% of Android devices.

More than half of Android phones currently have Android 10 followed by a Android 9.0 Pie which is close to 20%. Currently, according to these data, there are more mobiles with versions of four years ago than with the latest version available.

Android 11 does not take off

Statcounter has published the data pertaining to the period from February 2020 to February 2021, where we can see Android version distribution. The undisputed leader here is Android 10, a version that is present, according to the consultancy, in 52.39% of Android devices.

Android 9.0 Pie still accounts for almost 20% in Spain compared to other versions. Android Oreo 8 (8.0 + 8.1) has twice the adoption of Android 11

It is followed by Android 9.0 Pie, a version launched in 2018, with 19.68% of users. Alarms go off when viewing Android 11 data, which has only reached 4.84% market share, below both Android 8.1 and Android 8.0, which are above 5%. Fragmentation in Android is still a problem and that is, six months after the launch of Android 11 and with Android 12 already in testing phases, less than 5% of the total number of devices.

Compared to iOS, data for the month of December indicated that 81% of the devices presented in 2016 already have the latest versionFigures that are far from Android where the layers of customization, ranges and brand policies make it difficult for a homogeneous distribution of versions.
