Among all the Android manufacturers available in Spain, Sony is one of the most historic and veteran, a manufacturer that in recent years has been gradually losing relevance, but that despite everything continues to create mobiles of exceptional quality.
After a reinvention in its high-end range last year with the Xperia 1 and 5 that left us such good sensations, in 2020 they have continued in the same line with the Xperia 1 II and the recent Xperia 5 II. This latest mobile is striking for its compact size and some hardware improvements. But what Sony hadn’t told us was how easy it was to disassemble.
Sony Xperia 1 II, analysis: the most professional camera in a mobileWe analyze the Xperia 1 II, a premium mobile designed to offer the most cinematic experience possible, in every way.
Despite the fact that one of the market trends is to make phones bigger and bigger, even the widest smartphones are still brilliant works of engineering when it comes to miniaturization. Sometimes this obsession to make the most of the internal space ends up having repercussions on mobile phones that are practically impossible to open or repair, but on other occasions we find a surprise, as is the case with the latest Sony flagship.
The Xperia 5 II is an ultra-compact mobile that follows in the wake of the Japanese manufacturer, a mobile very similar to the Xperia 1 II that we already tested a few months ago, but even smaller and with a 120-hertz screen.
The YouTube channel PBKReviews has made a disassembly of Sony’s new high-end mobile, and surprises because of how easy it is to open and extract each of its pieces. Beyond the process of heating the back cover to detach it, removing components such as the battery is very easy, and although there is adhesive inside, there does not seem to be a risk of breaking any component in the repair process unless you mess it up a lot.
In another vein, a fairly basic internal cooling system is appreciated, using graphite and copper dissipation plates, but no vapor chamber or liquid cooling systems. In that sense, the Xperia 5 II endures the intense pace of games with high graphic demand worse than other mobiles with similar specifications. It was to be expected, since physics and physical space are what they are, and in the end they are commitments to which mobiles of this caliber must resort.
