The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 finally receives the ECG and blood pressure: update now in Spain

After a year and a half promising blood pressure reading and electrocardiograms for Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2, the company finally delivers the update that activates the reading of both sensors. This update is already operational in Spain.

Samsung marketed its Galaxy Watch Active2 smartwatch with high-level hardware that not only offered the functions already common in a smartwatch, in 2019 said smartwatch already had sensors for calculating blood pressure and performing electrocardiograms. However, the fact that he started completely in health functions did not imply that they worked since the authorities had to authorize them. After successive promises the owners of the watch can finally use it as it deserves.

Samsung promised to update the watches at the end of February, and we already have the new firmware version here: just over 100 MB of update that offers new functions in Samsung Health, enables precise watch search using SmartThings Find, sleep measurement now includes score, sports recognition improves, and handwash detection is added to ensure minimal hygiene time. However, the highlight is the activation of the two remaining sensors.

Samsung obtained the authorization of the European health authorities, so it finally updates the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 with the functions promised at its launch. Measurements are made on the watch, although you need to install an application to register them and send them to Samsung Health. The app is Samsung Health Monitor, can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store.

The EKG (and blood pressure) can easily be added to the start of the clock for testing whenever desired. For that it is essential stand still and put a finger on the top button of the smartwatch: after thirty seconds a reading will be obtained; which will pass to the two connected applications, Samsung Health Monitor and Samsung health (as long as the data is connected between them, it is not mandatory).

For blood pressure it is essential calibrate the watch with a blood pressure monitor. It is necessary to carry out three measurements with this tensiometer so that Samsung finds the deviations in the reading and can correct them; then all the registrations will be made by the Galaxy Watch Active2. Also, every so often it is essential to calibrate the recording again with the blood pressure monitor.

Both blood pressure and ECG measurements are available as the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is updated with the new version. This is already available in Spain: if you have one of these relaxes, look for the update from the Galaxy Watch app.
