The Samsung Galaxy A72 will have the perfect cameras for the mid-range

Cameras have become one of the most important elements in mobiles. And we are not just talking about high-end terminals. In countries like Spain this benefit, together with the battery, is one of the keys when renewing the mobile, and that in our country the average cost is about 250 euros.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 has already passed through our review table. A powerful terminal, with a good screen and decent cameras. And the conclusion is not bad.

That is why the move that Samsung seems to be making with the new Galaxy A could be a revolution in that it would offer an extremely versatile camera in the mid-range.

Five cameras and no important ones are missing

Samsung has been implementing, like most manufacturers, four sensors in the mid-range. Namely:

• Main sensor.
• Angle sensor (normally with 8 Mpx).
• 2MP macro sensor (hopefully a 5MP).
• 2 Mpx depth data collection sensor.

As we always say, at the moment of truth only the first two are relevant, and the wide angle usually suffers from a lack of detail. The macro is usable if it is at least 5 cm long, although it is not an important sensor.

But the Samsung Galaxy A72 could be the first mid-range with a practically perfect camera setup. Obviously considering that it is a mid-range. According to rumors, these would be the sensors:

• Main sensor: 64 Mpx.
• Angle sensor: 12 Mpx.
• Telephoto sensor: 8 Mpx with 3x optical zoom.
• 5MP macro sensor.
• Depth data acquisition sensor: 2 Mpx.

There are several notable aspects. The main one is that, finally, the telephoto reaches the mid-range. It is something that for years has been reserved almost exclusively for the high-end, and sometimes not even that, as we saw in the Xiaomi Mi 10.

In addition, we will have a wide angle with an improved resolution. The 12 Mpx does not reach the 48 that we have seen in the high range, but it is a step forward.

The 64MP main sensor and 5MP macro aren’t new, but at least we’re glad there are no cutouts on them. The same happens with the fifth sensor, which is surely almost useless, but at least we like that it was not a replacement for a more important one.

It remains to be seen that finally the camera configuration is this and that the price will not skyrocket because of said choice.
