The processor of Google for the Pixel is real, has a name, and Google would already be testing it

Makes few days we met a rumor very interesting, and is that Google would partner with Samsung to create the mobile processor final, a processor that would take advantage of the industrial capacity of Samsung as a manufacturer of processors, and the knowledge of the Google Artificial Intelligence to distinguish yourself from the competition.

This rumor continues to be nourished, and that is done a few hours ago the guys of Axios have commented on news very interesting about this new processor, which would be in the offices of Google. Why would it be so special about this processor?

New details about the processor of Google for the Pixel

On mobile devices, the processor is a fundamental element in the experience, as it allows the manufacturer to have an absolute control when it comes to integrating hardware and software. Some of the most obvious examples are Apple and to a lesser extent, Samsung and Huawei. After many rumors, Google would be ready to create your own processor.

This processor seems to be far from mass production, but it would be real. According to Axios, Google would have already received the first prototypes in their offices. The codename of this processor would be Whitechapel. This processor would be planned to be created in a manufacturing process of 5 nanometers, being much more efficient than the processors today, which are manufactured in a process of 7 nm.

So is the Pixel Visual Core, the first chip designed by Google to become a leader in photography.

Two of the components that Google would add

to the design of this processor would be the processors for photography and artificial intelligence, processors that Google already integrated in their Pixel from the second generation and that would now be within the chip itself, increasing its efficiency.

  • ISP: known as the image-signal-processor, is the processor responsible for converting the signal captured by the camera. The better an ISP, a larger amount of information is able to extract the camera.
  • NPU: known as a unit of neural processing, this processor is in charge of the tasks of artificial intelligence, such as image processing or speech analysis.

Come the year comes to mobile Pixel and Chromebooks

With respect to the availability, at the time we speculated that it could come to the end of the year, but according to the latest sources, would not arrive until the next year. This processor would not work only in mobile Pixel, but that also would end up coming to Chrome OS devices, the Chromebook of Google, leaving not only Qualcomm, but also to Intel.

An interesting part of the support for Chrome OS is that Google could become not only a seller of devices, but also of processors, and is that while on mobile devices it is possible for Google to maintain its exclusivity, the ecosystem of Chromebooks would be very benefited if Google ended up selling its own chips to other manufacturers.

The input to The processor from Google for the Pixel is real, has a name, and Google would already be testing it first appears in The Android Free.
