A few days ago we saw how PowerToys were updated to version 0.45 going to have an attractive interface which was better integrated into Windows 11. Now the popular tools are updated to version 0.46 by adding the possibility to mute video calls.
The PowerToys already have a new version, 0.46, in the experimental phase which, as usual, can be downloaded from Github. A version that, together with the usual corrections and improvements, introduces the option to mute video calls from webcam.
Mute video calls in one click
Being an experimental version, they are not updated from the application itself, but must be downloaded manually from this link. Among all the improvements, the option is added so that a video call can be silenced, something that also allows mute microphone and camera, microphone only or webcam only. These are the rest of the improvements:
- Fixed the top right vertical scrolling of the toolbar to allow users to close other application windows.
- The compatibility issues for certain systems when compiling from source.
- Fixed the Toolbox being present on the screen.
- Fixed the issue that caused microphone mute when changing the position of the toolbar.
- The “Video Conference Mute” switch has been added to the “Welcome to PowerToys” window.

- With some webcams, there is an incompatibility with Teams and the overlay image is not rendered, but instead shows a damaged frame. If your camera has this peculiarity, please let us know the model in the [problema de seguimiento principal
- La vista previa de la aplicación (Teams, Meet, etc.) puede mostrar la imagen superpuesta volteada horizontalmente, pero eso es lo esperado, la imagen se mostrará correctamente a las otras personas en la llamada.
- Para habilitar / deshabilitar el VCM, PowerToys debe ejecutarse como administrador
- Los cambios en algunas de las configuraciones de VCM requieren que la aplicación se reinicie para recoger los nuevos valores, como una nueva imagen superpuesta.
- En algunos casos, la imagen de superposición se puede mostrar volteada verticalmente (la solución es editar la imagen y voltearla antes de seleccionarla).
- Si la cámara web PowerToys Video Conference Mute no aparece en la aplicación de videoconferencia, intente reiniciar la aplicación y, si aún no aparece, intente reiniciar Windows.
