The PowerToys they are a pack of small applications from Microsoft that have had great success in the times of Windows 95, and the company recently re-launched with a version for Windows 10. A re-launch, which, moreover, was accompanied by the release of the code of these tools with open source licenseand the possibility of downloading them from Github.
Today, this new incarnation of the PowerToys has reached its version 0.16.0, which has meant not only the solution of multiple bugs and the improvement of the tools already available, but also the incorporation of three completely new. In addition, Microsoft has announced its intention to end incorporating PowerToys to Microsoft Store.
FancyZones is a tool that allows you to create grids customized on the desktop to facilitate a better organization of the windows: when the arrastremos to an area of the screen will be adjusted automatically to the area you have set up for the same.
Without doubt, a useful tool when we have no second monitor. But from now on it will also be useful when we will have both (or more): after the launch of the new version, Fancy Zones has enabled the ability to drag windows between areas defined on different desktops.
This new tool is an extension of the preview pane of Windows Explorerthat will allow to preview the documents in Markdown and the SVG images.
Another new toolit is in this case of another extension, to the Explorer context menu, that it allows us to resize images without resorting to editors. Such operation may be individual or in a block, and we will choose predefined sizes or custom, in addition to the option of operating on the original files or copies.
The latest addition, by now, the pack of tools. With Window Walker, Microsoft provides us with an alternative to the key combination Alt + Tab
that allows us to change from one window to another. By activating this application, we may resort to the combination Control + Windows key to switch between the windows you have open, and find content.
Eye, because this is not the application launcher that it was announced a few months agoand that should be included in the PowerToys towards the second half of this year.
