It seems that the initial project came to fruition, since the company has doubled its efforts with its new generation, the Teracube 2e, a mobile that is once again presented through a financing campaign that seeks to be just as durable and sustainable, but much more cheap.
I admit being a fan of alternatives such as Fairphone or Teracube, since despite being products that are not so disruptive at a technological level, they really try to create a more sustainable market, where the user has guarantees of durability, with updates and easy-to-replace mobiles.
These mobiles have a problem to be sold, and that is because they are products of small companieseconomies of scale leave them in a very bad place. If we add to this that the ultimate goal of a mobile brand is to sell mobile phones, allowing users to keep their phones to the maximum ends up requiring that users who manage to pay more to get something else.
The first Teracube had a base price of $ 349, a band that has been reduced to $ 199 for the commercial version, or between 99 and 119 dollars if you are one of the first to support the financing campaign. On the mobile, at a technological level it is not a big thing, but it has the basic technical characteristics for not very demanding people or to use as a secondary mobile.
A key aspect of the Teracube 2e is that it uses 100% recycled plastic, and the included casing is biodegradable, an essential factor for those who have concerns about the electronic waste that each phone leaves behind. The battery is removable and replaceable, and it also appears to be a breeze to open, disassemble and replace. Nor does it have a charger, headphones or any type of component that could end up being an electronic waste without being used.
