Many times we complain about brands taking time to update their phones, but the truth is that some development companies also take time to update their apps. In Spain we have seen how many app functions are not available due to the language, but there are more bloody cases.
Today Instagram has released an update to its application that adds a feature that has been available on Android for four years.
Shortcuts come to Instagram
Android 7 Nougat allowed developers to create shortcuts that appeared in the application by pressing and holding the application icon. WhatsApp uses them since 2017, for example.
This is what Instagram has now implemented, adding four of them to the menu:
- New post.
If we click on any of them, the corresponding section will open, although it is possible that the first time we use one of them it will not work. This is what happened to us, but perhaps it was due to the app’s own cache.
In addition to being able to enter from there, we can press and hold one of them to drag the icon to the desktop so that with one touch we can go to the section of the application we want.
We will also have these shortcuts available in the application drawer of our mobile, in case we do not have the Instagram icon on the desktop.
This function was used by a select few but it is now when it has been activated for everyone, so if you are one of those people who spends a lot of time in the application, entering directly to a section is very practical.
We simply have to have the app updated in the Google Play Store and wait for the change to be activated on the Instagram servers
The entry The Instagram icon includes new shortcuts to functions of the app appears first in The Free Android.
