Google camera modifies astrophotography

In version 8.1 of the Google camera application, eliminated the possibility of using the ultra wide angle when using astrophotography. Users can now only use the main camera when they want to use this feature in the app on their Pixel 4 or Pixel 5.

No reasons have been given why this possibility has been eliminated, although everything suggests that it has to do with the quality of photos when using astrophotography with the ultra wide angle of the phone. Users have reported on more than one occasion that these photos are not of quality, while those taken with the main sensor are great.

The use of ultra wide angle in astrophotography allows you to capture a larger field, although light and quality are sacrificed for it. It seems that Google doesn’t want their camera app to go through that, so they remove this option.
