The Google assistant now allows you to program the lighting of lights

One of the most common uses of voice assistants is to control the devices that we have connected in our home, such as lights. This function came standard when we had the first Google Home in Spain, and now it improves significantly.

Surely more than once you have used a voice command thinking “How nice it would be to be able to program this command.” Well, that option is already available with the lights.

A new command for the lights

The Google assistant is now able to recognize a new command in Spanish, the one for programming the lights on and off. For example, we can say “Ok Google, turn on the living room lamp in 10 minutes” or also “Ok Google, turn off the office in 5 minutes.”

This new function is only active at the moment for devices marked as lights in the application, they are LED bulbs; light strips or smart plugs to which we have connected a device.

Another thing we can do is temporarily turn on a device, saying “Ok Google, turn on the living room lamp for 10 minutes.” It will automatically turn it off when that time is up. Obviously we can do the same with the shutdown command.

We can even tell you to turn a light on or off at a specific time, if we need to leave it scheduled in advance.

These new options are also available when creating routines, so it will be more convenient to leave functions ready to run within an hour, at least while they have to do with the lights since other devices are not yet compatible with this.
