When mobile phones were used to call or send SMS, using a PIN code to protect access to it was rare. It was with the arrival of smartphones, which took place in Spain in the early years of this century, when we began to want more privacy.
Samsung updates its Bixby assistant with a new designBixby, the assistant to Samsung phones, gets a new design in its update, with a cleaner, more user-friendly appearance.
That led to the use of the PIN in iOS and the unlock pattern in Android, although in this system we could also use a password or a PIN. Then came the fingerprint sensors and face unlock.
Samsung, for its part, was even fooling around with iris scanning as a way to secure our phones, although it put that idea aside a few years ago. Now he comes back with another one that is, at best, just as peculiar.
The first details of One UI 3.1, the version of the Samsung interface that will be implemented as standard in the Galaxy S21, is beginning to circulate in test versions, and Sammobile has had access to information about it.
Specifically, there is a new function from Bixby, the Samsung assistant, which would allow to unlock the mobile by a voice command. This is practical when we want to unlock it without using our hands, but we do not think of many scenarios in which that is relevant.
In addition, there is an added risk, and that is that we do not know how Samsung would prevent the mobile from being unlocked if someone is done with a recording of our voice pronounced the unlock order.
We will have to wait for the first half of 2021 to confirm if Samsung finally launches with this function and if it integrates them in the Galaxy S21.
The entry The Galaxy S21 will have voice unlocking integrated into Bixby appears first in The Free Android.
