The first substantial update of the Playstation 5, which will allow, among the most important features, to save PS5 games to a USB storage memory and share the action of the game between the PS5 and PS4 consoles.

In detail, the update implements:

  • Expansion and management of PS5 storage memory, having the opportunity to transfer PS5 games from the internal storage memory of the console to the USB extended storage
  • new social features for PS4 and PS5, including Share Play cross-gen and the ability to join a friend’s gaming session on both platforms
  • Customization and control options optimized for PS5 consoles, with major menu improvements. “Game base”, to “game collection” customization and trophy display settings
  • new functions for PlayStation app, to simplify remote connection as much as possible.

As mentioned, with the new update it is possible to save PS5 games to compatible external USB drives. With this feature, you can now transfer games from the console’s internal storage to USB extended storage. It’s the perfect way to expand your console’s storage capacity; When the user is ready to play, they can copy the games back to the internal storage of the console.

Share Play cross-gen

With this feature, PS4 and PS5 players will be able to use “Share Play” while chatting in groups. This means that PS5 console users can allow their PS4 console friends to view their game screen or even try PS5 games via Share Play and vice versa. Options include the ability to share your screen with a friend and virtually hand over your controller, or a secondary one, to a friend and play cooperative games together.
