The first carbon fiber mobile soon on sale: price and availability of the Carbon 1 MK II

Carbon Mobile is a new brand based in Germany that is committed to innovation in the use of components: its first phone has a body made in carbon fiber. And it will be available this March throughout Europe: the Carbon 1 MK II follow the path of the first users.

Innovating in the mobile telephony segment is becoming increasingly difficult. Not only because it seems that everything is invented, but also because a smartphone has the logic limits on design, size and performance. Even so, there is always scope to obtain a mobile that stands out in some aspect, as Carbon Mobile, a new German brand, has understood. Because, what would a carbon fiber smartphone look like?

As often happens with innovations, the first device to use them wields this fact not only as a differentiating element, but also as an argument to raise the price of the phone (in addition to raising its supposed category). This is the case of the Carbon 1 MK II: the carbon fiber used by the brand raises the bar at the price of a high-end range. The problem is that the hardware is not up to par.

The Carbon 1 MK II could be a manual-tuned mid-range. The MediaTek Helio P90, SoC of 2018, already hints at the austerity of the device in terms of components; LPDDR4X RAM (8 GB) and UFS 2.1 storage (256 GB) accompany the cut in technology. At least you do have enough space even if you don’t have an SD card.

The key to the phone is in the carbon fiber, it is the axis on which the rest of the elements rotate. The use of this material brings distinction to the design, also lightness: its 125 grams of weight look spectacular. Furthermore, the Carbon 1 MK II is just 6.3mm thick, certainly one of the thinnest currently available (and impact resistant, according to Carbon Mobile). With one catch: their 3,000 mAh battery they do not predict too much autonomy (Carbon ensures that the mobile is more than enough with an intensive day of use).

The new mobile has been officially presented and will be available at the end of March. It can be purchased from Spain through the brand online store. Its price is 799 euros and it is available in one color: black. The carbon fiber stands out especially in that tonality.
