Throughout this exceptionally long year in which we have suffered the greatest pandemic in the last 100 years, many voices have been advancing the possible creation of a passport focused on the medical data of citizens.
This document would allow those people who have been vaccinated to travel. The idea is to try to recover the normal rhythm of the economy as soon as possible.
Now the European Union has made it official, and called it Digital Green Certificate.
What is the vaccination passport or Digital Green Certificate
This digital document will show that we have been vaccinated with one of the vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency.
The document, which in addition to being in digital format can be obtained on paper, will also indicate if the person has had the disease or if they have a recent negative test.
This is relevant because legally it is not possible to prohibit the movement of certain citizens due to medical decisions, so by having this passport it will be possible to check what state it is in.
Main characteristics of the Digital Green Certificate
This new certificate, which has been developed at record speed, will have integrated a QR code so that data verification is as fast as possible.
It will be completely free and will be available in English and in the language of the country in which the citizen resides. Obviously it will be safe and valid in all countries of the European Union.
How a QR code worksEverything you need to know about the QR code: what they are, how they work and how mobile devices are able to read them in seconds.
Each country will decide where these certificates will be issued, although it is normal for them to be in hospitals and other medical centers.
However, there are still several steps to take after the presentation of this document, the most relevant being the vote of all the countries and its approval. It is expected to be operational for the summer.
The entry The European Union vaccination passport will go on your mobile, it appears first in The Free Android.
