The browser of the Google app, more complete: ‘read aloud’ and the translator arrive

Google has fallen short of the Chrome Custom Tabs browser, and has been working for a long time to include its own browser, with more options. Just yesterday we saw that he worked in show you related articles with a wave, and now additional options arrive: read aloud and translation.

Both options are currently being tested in the browser itself, which is also being tested. The way to recognize if your Google application uses Chrome Custom Tabs or your new browser is to see if the navigation buttons are down or above. If they’re down, it’s the new browser.

Read aloud in the Google app

Google has been improving the browser built into its application for some time, which is the one used when you do a search or when you open an article from Discover. Traditionally, used Chrome Custom Tabs, although apparently the limited functionality has led the company to opt for its own version, with more options.

These options are coming little by little, and as a test first, to the Google app and integrated into the new options menu that is shown at the bottom. In contrast, the Chrome Custom Tab has hardly any additional options. In this menu you will now find Read out loud, in addition to Translate, although this option already appeared in the Chrome Custom Tabs.

After pressing the button, the Google Assistant reading mode opens. In practice, it is the same as opening the web in Google Chrome and ask the Assistant to read it using the command Ok google read, although this command does not work in the browser integrated in the Google app.

With these new options, there are one less reason to quit the Google app and open the link in a full browser, which seems to be the path Google is following with the latest updates.
