Home automation systems are not exactly new. Many hobbyists and technicians take using it for decades, but it has not been until recent years when companies like Amazon and Google have become popular worldwide.

Thanks to cheaper costs and to the creation of platforms like the ones that have the giant americans are many manufacturers that have been launched to create all kinds of connected devices.

Some of the most interesting and commonly used are the smart plugs, because they allow you to control the flow of electricity from virtually any device that requires it. Personally I use them in devices such as an electric water heater, a floor lamp or a set of bulbs for decoration.

The problem was that Google Home knew that there was this plug smart if we had connected to our account, but was unable to differentiate what we had plugged in at the same. The only exception is that I knew it was a lamp if in the name of the plug was that word.

With the new update of Google Home, now available for iOS but will soon also come to Android, we will be able to select the type of device that we have connected to each one of the plugs. In this way, we will be able to include all the lamps and lights you have connected via outlets to be able to turn them off all at once.

Will be eight options that we have in the list: Intelligent lighting, air conditioning, coffee maker, dehumidifier, fan, heater, humidifier, water boiler, TV and power plug smart.

The last is the one that we will use in the event that our device is not any of the named in the other categories.

This new option will appear as a special section in the configuration section of each of the plugs, along with the name that we give or the room in which we have located.
