Google launched the Google Chromecast in 2013 and, until today, it has become a very interesting device that is in millions of homes around the world. A smart dongle with HDMI connection that allows us to send content from the mobile or the computer to the television to see it large or, with the 2020 model, to watch series or movies directly from the TV, even if it is not Smart TV. But in order to start using them you must, first, configure the Chromecast and know how to plug it in and here we explain how to do it step by step.
The first thing to keep in mind is that there are two types of Chromecast that we can connect and it will depend on which one we have to follow some steps or others: depending on whether you have Google Chromecast with Google TV or the device that allows us to send content to the TV from the phone mobile. Even so, both work through the Google Home application that we can download for free from iOS or from Android to configure all our devices such as the Google Home, Home Mini or any other device of the company.
Beyond the Chromecast with Google TV that you can see in later paragraphs, we explain how to configure “classic” Chromecast models that allow us to send content from other devices as long as they are connected to the same WiFi network. You will need to have the Home app on your mobile phone or tablet but the steps are simple to link, plug in and configure.
The first thing you must do is meet a series of requirements:
Once you follow those requirements we can easily configure the Chromecast when you have it plugged into the TV and connected to your Home app.
You will have already connected the Google Chromecast and its operation is very simple: we simply have to look for the send icon from any device connected to the WiFi network and will start to project on the TV that it is plugged intoor. It can be from the Chrome browser or from the phone.
The first thing we need to know is how this device works: you do not send the content to the TV (but also) but it works as a device that makes your TV smart to use applications or games that you download for free. The first thing we must do is log into the Chromecast itself and install the different applications that we want to have.
Once you have them, you must log in one by one to each of them in order to access the content. You must bear in mind that you have to create independent accounts in the different applications to be able to access, a Google account is not enough. But first, you will have to install and activate the Chromecast.
On the TV screen you will have to start the configuration of this. Choose your language and follow the steps. Search by choosing “Spanish” and a message will appear on the TV that says: Configure with the Google Home app. You will then have to link the device from the phone using a QR code or a code with letters that we will enter from the app to link the TV.
Once you have connected and plugged in the Chromecast you must configure the device from the phone, using the Home application, as we have explained in the previous paragraph. The application is free and we must link our account to the Google device following a few steps.
If you’ve used the app before and have an account and a house, follow these steps:
The TV will automatically be linked to the mobile phone and you will have to name the device. It will connect detecting the Wi-Fi network to which your smartphone is connected and after a few seconds the Google TV Chromecast will appear as connected. You will simply have to log in with your email and password or confirm access to your Google account for the installation to complete.
Can the Chromecast with Google TV is updated before starting, but after a few minutes the interface and the main menu will appear on the television where we will see all the available options: applications, games. Before opening you will have to select which services you use such as Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Crunchyroll. You can choose some of them but it will not be final because you can always touch “Applications” again and download the ones you want.
When you have finished you will access the main page and at the top you will find tabs such as “Search ”(with the Google Assistant) / Home / Applications / Collection. You will also find a carousel on the bottom page where you can see the applications or personalized recommendations according to your tastes.
If what you want is to send the phone screen to the Chromecast with Google TV, we simply have to go to the Home application on the mobile phone and choose the device if we have several (if you also have speakers, for example) Once inside the application choose the device and at the bottom you will see the button Send my screen. The phone screen will start to be sent until the moment you decide.
If none of the above works or you have a problem, You can contact Google from the “Chromecast Help” section where you will access a technical support chat or you can also contact by phone. In the case of the telephone, it is available from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To do so, call 800 000 120 and they will assist you in Spanish.
Or, as we say, you can do it from the chat of the Chromecast contact or support page where you will have to explain what problem you have and they will answer you in a few minutes telling you how you should proceed to solve it as soon as possible.
