For example, if your computer’s RAM is 4GB or more, disabling animations might have a low impact. But if you have a computer with 1GB or 2GB of RAM, the option can be really useful and you will notice it for good.

Steps to disable animations

Either by having a more effective system or by working with it in a more fluid way, deactivating the animations is very simple with the native options that Windows 10 offers us. In this case, it will not be necessary to resort to third-party applications.

Although we are not really improving the performance of our team, we will be saving resources not only from the RAM, but also from the graphics card and processor. All this will favor a faster and smoother operation.

From the Settings menu

The first way Windows 10 offers us to disable animations is through the settings menu.

• In the new menu we have to detect the first section, called Performance and click on Setting.
• We will find another pop-up window. Here on the Visual Effects tab there are four check boxes available. We will mark the third, Adjust for best performance.
• This will automatically clear all the boxes related to animations and visual effects present in the list below. Now click on Apply and finally in To accept.

When we have finished the process, we should notice an immediate response in the fluidity and performance of our computer. Especially if the team is somewhat limited in resources.

Customizing animations

In the Performance Options window that we have handled previously, there is also the option to deactivate the animations that we want one by one and personalize these functions manually. In this case, it is an alternative if we want to improve the performance of our PC and not sacrifice too much the appearance and visual aspect of Windows 10.

• Therefore, we repeat the process Windows key + R> Advanced options> Performance> Settings> Visual effects.

The function Show thumbnails Instead of icons, it is perhaps another one that we can consider keeping active. Otherwise, we will not have access, for example, to the preview of images and videos on our computer. Instead, predefined icons will appear.

Ultimately it’s all about testing and playing around with the customization options. However, we must know that this process is reversible at all times. We can always go back in the menu and, if it does not convince us, mark the option Let Windows choose the most suitable settings for this computer.
