So you can download and install Windows 11 now if you don't want to wait for the notice to arrive at Windows Update

Windows 11 is now available to everyone … at least in theory. And we already know that on the one hand the update will be gradual, which added to the compatibility of the equipment will mean that it may still take weeks (or months) to reach you. And so as not to have to wait, you have different solutions.

Unless you are part of the Windows Insider program, it will most likely take weeks to see how it appears in Windows Update. If you don’t want to wait, you can always opt for download the ISO and perform a manual install following these steps.

Manual installation and no waiting

Windows

The reason for the rolling update is to prevent a potential failure from spreading rapidly across a huge fleet of devices. For this, Microsoft relies on a series of criteria. We know that devices with the latest hardware will take precedence in this process and can update from today. For the rest of the teams, factors such as geographic location, the time of the team or the presence of certain software will determine when they receive the update.

If you want to check if you already have the update ready to download, you can try your luck by following these steps. Go to “Setting”, find the section “Update and security” and then enter “Windows Update” and “Search for updates”.

And if you don’t want to wait for a Microsoft AI to decide when you will receive the notice in Windows Update, you can always choose to perform a clean installation by downloading the corresponding ISO.

The ISO download is complementary to the one you can carry out using the update wizard or the media creation tool to manually force the update. From this link you can get him “Windows 11 Setup Wizard” and the “Media creation tool”, but also with the Windows 11 ISO image.

Windows 1

From this page we must go to the section where it says “Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO)” (Download Windows 11 disk image).

Windows 2

At this point, a warning from Microsoft stands out before starting the download. Something what we already talked about a few days ago regarding the warranty:

“WARNING: It is not recommended to install Windows 11 media on a PC that does not meet the minimum Windows 11 system requirements and may cause compatibility issues. If you continue installing Windows 11 on a PC that does not meet the requirements , that PC will no longer be supported and will no longer be eligible for updates. Damage to the PC due to lack of compatibility is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. ”

Once chosen, click on the language selector to select the one we want the ISO to have and then with the 64 bit image (there is no 32-bit) we proceed with the download.

Windows 3

A file with the name will then be downloaded Win11_Spanish_x64.iso with a weight of just over 5 GB. Through this and through a virtual machine, a bootable Pendrive or a DVD in which we record it, we can install Windows 11 from scratch.

To install Windows 11 directly from the ISO file without using a DVD or USB flash drive we will have to mount the downloaded ISO image. To mount the ISO file we must right-click on the ISO file and select “Properties”.

In the “General” tab, click on “Change …” and where it says “Opens with:” we select in “Windows Explorer” the program that we want to use to open ISO files and select “Apply”. At that point we right-click on the ISO file and choose the option “Mount”, which will create a virtual boot disk. We double-click on it to see the files it contains and double-click on setup.exe to start the installation of Windows 11.

Installation with the media creation tool

One

If instead we want to use the media creation tool, we will have to have a Windows 10 device that qualifies for an upgrade to Windows 11 or a license to install Windows 11.

Two

Once the utility is downloaded from this link We will have to make sure that we have an Internet connection where it is ideal that it be fiber to shorten times and not exhaust the mobile rate. To use a disk-shaped support we must have a Blank DVD with at least 8GB (double layer) and DVD burner to create a bootable disc or in your case a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB capacity. Also, you must be an administrator to run this tool.

Three

If you agree with the terms of the license you must click on “To accept” and when the system asks What do you want to do? we must choose “Create installation media for PC” and then select “Next”. From there you have to choose the language, the edition and the architecture (64 bits) for Windows 11 and then choose the media that we want to use:

  • USB flash drive– Connect a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
  • ISO file: save an ISO file on your PC. This can be used to create a bootable DVD. Once the file is downloaded, it remains to follow the instructions to burn the file to a DVD.

Upgrade wizard

Assistant

Yes, it is Windows 10 but the process is the same

Another way is to use the “Upgrade wizard“which can be downloaded at this link. Again we must be an administrator to run this tool. Once the tool is downloaded, it takes care ofcheck that the device is compatible and after offering the license terms, we select “Accept and install”. Once the tool is ready, we click the “Restart” button now to complete the installation, at which point the PC will shut down and restart several times.
