So are the new Samsung photographic sensors of 108, 64, 48 and 32 Mpx

One of the lesser known divisions of Samsung to the general public is the one that manufactures ISOCELL sensors. This part of the company is responsible for a large part of the cameras we use in smartphones today, and not just in the Korean firm.

Today four new photographic sensors have been announced that stand out for being thinner, which in theory would allow the use of thinner camera modules, and in recent months we have seen how this has gotten a bit out of hand.

New 108 Mpx ISOCELL HM2, 64 Mpx ISOCELL GW3, 48 Mpx ISOCELL GM5 and 32 Mpx ISOCELL JD1

These four new products focus on offering a suitable resolution catalog so that any manufacturer can choose the one that suits them best.

The most powerful is the ISOCELL HM2, which has 108 Mpx, like other high-end sensors of the firm. There is also a 64 Mpx one, the ISOCELL GW3, a 48 Mpx one, the ISOCELL GM5 and finally a 32 Mpx one, the ISOCELL JD1.

These sensors are 15% smaller than their predecessors and 10% less weight which will directly benefit the design of new mobiles.

This has been made possible by using a pixel size of 0.7 µm. In order not to affect the quality of the photographs, Samsung has developed parallel technology that separates the pixels and handles the ISO better.

Features of the new photographic sensors

Samsung has published a small summary table showing the main technical characteristics of the four new sensors, in addition to one already announced, the ISOCELL GH1.

According to Samsung executives, we can expect to see mobiles with these new sensors before the end of the year. In fact, it would not be strange if these sensors were used in the new Galaxy F that it seems that Samsung will present before the end of the month.

The entry So are the new photographic sensors from Samsung of 108, 64, 48 and 32 Mpx appears first in The Free Android.
