Sailfish 4.0 is official: better integration with Android apps, more secure and new design

Android, iOS or KaiOS are known operating systems in Spain for users, although they are not the only options. There are others somewhat less known, but of which we have spoken to you in the past, as Sailfish, which now presents its fourth version officially. This new version leaves us with a series of news.

Jolla has made Sailfish 4.0 official, announcing the news that this new version of the operating system will leave us and that users will be able to enjoy this year. A version where you can notice an important advance in it.

This is Sailfish 4.0

Sailfish 4.0 introduces more than 5,000 improvements over the previous version, with many improvements focused on system security. This is something they do with a new version of Firejail, which takes care of run each app in a cage, preventing you from having access to the others and to the phone data. Security problems with malicious apps are avoided, by limiting their access and protecting the user.

This new version improves the running Android apps more recent on devices, thanks to support for Android API Level 28. Thanks to these improvements, apps are allowed to work better, without any performance or stability problems. In fact, according to Jolla, some work better on this system than on Android.

The system browser has also been updated, improving its performance or its compatibility with different web pages. It will also work better with the Gecko engine, with third-party apps and progressive web apps. The browser improves your privacy and you can better manage the privacy permissions on each website and improve security when we connect to a public WiFi.

Sailfish 4.0 updates its design in addition, with a cleaner appearance, which will allow users to move in a better way. Little radical changes have been introduced, but they will help to better use the system. The first version of this renewed operating system, called Koli, is now available to users, who will be able to enjoy these new features.
