Revolution in Google Assistant: health data, incognito mode and shortcuts for Android Auto 1

Google Assistant is the virtual assistant with the largest presence in Spain, partly thanks to the dominance of Android. This does not mean that Google should rest on its laurels, and it seems that they take it into account, since from the Google application they prepare a revolution with three new functionalities.

These functions are not yet available, but there are already internal references within the code of the latest version of the application that detail what new features the team is currently working on.

One of the most important acquisitions in recent months was the purchase of Fitbit by Google, an acquisition that promises to improve the health and fitness system of the Android platform and Google Assistant. Preparing for this, it seems that Assistant refers to a new health mode, by being able to make inquiries about our sleep rhythm or physical activity data.

Google’s application notes state that“On those devices where you have health and fitness data, the wizard will show related data, suggestions and content without you having to ask.”This would indicate that such data could appear on our home screen of the wizard.

On the other hand, we have an incognito mode of the assistant. This mode is called, according to Google’s own words, as Guest mode, and stands out for allowing us to make voice queries to the assistant that will not be stored in any Google account. This mode can be activated by telling the speaker to “activate guest mode”, which will stop it from registering queries in our Google account and will remain active until you indicate that you want to deactivate this mode.

This is a great privacy setting, which in return, disables the Google Assistant experience associated with our Google account until we reactivate it, a more than reasonable concession.

Finally, it seems that Assistant will also have a new feature for Android Auto. This function will allow us to create accessible shortcuts on the car’s home screen to perform personalized actions from the Google assistant. An example would be asking him to turn off all the lights in the house, for those moments when you are already in the car and you ask yourself if you have turned off the light.

Among these novelties, the guest mode is the one that is closest to getting to having been announced by Google itself, while the others are still under development.
