From the chat

In the first case we can open a secret conversation with someone with whom we already have a chat on Messenger. What is done then is to create a second conversation with said person, which is now a secret conversation, different from the normal chat that we had until now. The steps in this regard are:

1. Open Messenger.
2. Go to the chat you had with that person.
3. Click on the «i» icon located in the upper right corner.
4. Click on Secret conversation.
5. A private chat opens.

Then you will be able have said private chat with this other person in the application, having the guarantee that there is an end-to-end encryption in it.

From the beginning of the app

There is a second way to start a private conversation in the app, possibly known to some. When entering the application on Android, we have a search engine, where we can find the person with whom to start a chat, but there is also a way to make said chat directly private. These are the steps:

1. Open Messenger.
2. Click on the pencil icon in the upper right (to open a new chat).
3. Click on the padlock icon that appears in the upper right.
4. If the icon is black now, you have already activated the secret conversation.
5. Select the contact to talk to.
6. Start writing.
