Paying with a mobile will be more comfortable: the limit for not using the PIN goes up

When you have a third of the world population isolated at home it is normal to begin to change certain patterns of use. An example of what we see in the online shopping, which is increasing so much that giants like Amazon are starting to give more importance to elements of first need to whims more expendable.

Another change I’ve personally experienced these days. The few times I have gone in the last few weeks has been to the grocery store to make the purchase. Today I noticed in a poster that was on the door thanking customers to the payment card or mobile phone, instead of with cash.

This is normal as it minimizes the possibility of contagion between the clients and dependents. And that line goes a measure adopted today by the Spanish financial institutions members of the Spanish system of card payments.

The limit to pay with the mobile without the PIN goes up to 50 euros

This organization has reported (PDF) that the current limit of mobile payments without a PIN, that was in Spain on 20 euros, is going to rise temporarily to € 50, to minimize the number of times we have to touch the terminal POS to put our numeric password.

This change is not permanentand only be in effect while the special measures of the state of alarm still in force. As of march 30, this change will be implemented gradually in all kinds of shops.

In spite of this, will continue the rest of the security protocols integrated in the european directive, PSD2, as the that require to type the PIN when you accumulate 150 euros or 5 operations in a row without a PIN.

Let’s hope that once you have past this situation, at least allow users to set the limit to pay with your mobile phone without using a PIN, albeit with a maximum of 50 euros.
